The Play Date Cafe Challenge # 78

Hi another fantastic day weather wise in my part of the world - amongst getting chores done and more weeding in the garden - I've slipeed away to my craft room for a little crafty session!  I wanted to join in the PDCC challenge this week - haven't done one for a while.  The inspiration for this challenge is this photo:-

Very Kath Kidston - whom I love..........  so using the photo inspiration, here is the card I've created for this challenge.

I looked at the colours and grabbed from my stash the blue felt, pink roses and the red spotty ribbon.  I decided I wanted the blue panel to be the main focus of the card and bravely stamped my image onto it.  I was a little nervous and was holding back and then I thought - just go for it! if it doesn't come out how you want you can try something else.  I gotta say I'm so pleased with how it has come out.  I think I need to be brave more often - don't know why I just don't go for it sometimes!  Do you find yourself "holding back" sometimes or am I the only one.....

I machine stitched around the blue panel, across the front of the card at the bottom, and I stitched the spotty ribbon on to another panel of blue felt.  I added some glossy accents to the roses to look like dew drops but alas I don't think you can see it in these pictures.

Anyway I'm so pleased with how this card turned out and so glad I "let go and just went for it"  I think it somehow helps me be more creative.

Enjoy what is left of the bank holiday and .....

Less is More Week 12 - Off centre

Hi Diva and Lady LIM - one of your LIMettes here entering your next Less is more challenge - and another great one at that!  So this week we have to be off centre and so here is what I've come up with today:-

I've borrowed one of my friend Shirley's stamp sets and had a little play with it today.  I stamped the image with worn lipstick distress ink for all three elements - don't know why just fancied doing that!!

I'm quite happy with white space - it doesn't freak me out - but what I do find hard to resist is adding a bit of sparkle!!!!  As you can see above I've added some stickles glitter glue to the rose - and yep it's not even dry yet........... LOL

Here is a close up of the sentiment as in the main photo you can't read it that well.  I was tempted not to use the ribbon but I do think it finishes off the card nicely and helps to place the sentiment and the rose below.

Looking forward to popping over to some of the other entries for this week - and I was shocked at how many have entered already!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend LIMettes!

Less is More - Week 11 - Acetate

Afternoon all

Wow what wonderful weather we are having!  I've not been around much as have just come back from a few days away in Norfolk - visiting my Dad and his partner Rita (hi Rita - if you are reading this!)  Had a lovely time walking Tilly on the beach, eating ice creams and sitting by the broads - wonderful!

So sorry if I've not been visiting you all as much as usual!  Anyway on to today and I've dragged myself in from weeding the garden to make a card for the Less is More challenge this week which ends in a couple of hours so just making it this week ladies!!!

The challenge is to use acetate - some people steer clear (excuse the pun!) of acetate but I don't mind it actually!  Right so here are some photos of my card:-

Sorry the photos are not great even with my photo thingy - in fact I think its taken me longer to fiddle about photographing than it did to make the card!!!  The card is a lovely pearlised lilac colour but it just doesn't come out that well in the photo.  The acetate butterfly (which I've stamped with swirls) and the sentiment are from Craftwork Cards, pearls are from Hobbyhouse.

Right off to make another card for some DT work and to visit some of your lovely blogs.

Enjoy the sunshine - don't forget the sunscreen and will be back soon.

I decided to stamp directly on to my doily
The background panel is from a stamp set by Artemio I used two different shades of distress inks
I've got to say I'm sooo pleased with how this turned out - when you are happy with a creation it gives you such a good feeling doesn't it - is that why we are all so addicted to it!!!!  Anyway I hope that you like it too!

Less is More Week 10 - One layer card

Hi another busy week for me and today is no exception....  but I did make time to enter the Less is More week 10 challenge.  This week the sentiment should be the focus of your OLC.  Here is my entry

All the stamps I used here I borrowed from a friend that she has yet to use!  I love the lace stamp (which is an old Hero Arts one).  My card blank is a new type from Craftwork Cards - which I love just as much as my favourite scallops!  To add a bit of colour to my card I added some plum gems to the lace and butterflies - which gives a nice subtle sparkle - lovely.......

Hope that you all have a good weekend and catch up next week.

WOYWW 97

Well a few weeks ago some of you may remember that I was having a reorganisation of my craft room, so I thought it appropriate to share the transformation with you all over at WOYWW for no 97!

So here is my desk/craft room before:-

As you can see quite a small area in front of the computer screen to work on... and the sofa bed was taking up too much room and was a "dumping ground! for bits and bobs!
so it just had to go...
The skip arrived...
I had wanted to donate the sofa to a charity but because we didn't have the safety label on it no one would touch it - such a shame to see it go but hey ho......  The new desk has arrived and thoughts of the sofa bed have long gone!  (Can you see Tilly in her favourite spot keeping lookout at the window!)

So much more space I can have my Cricut and sewing machine right to hand... and order has been restored on the desk with the computer - hubby is very happy about that!

I treated myself (what again you say!!!!) to what really is a garden ornament for putting plants on but I had other ideas "perfect" I thought for lots of jars of gorgeous ribbon...

Thank goodness for Ikea for there cheap jars (just over £2 for four - bargain!!!)

So that is the transformation for the moment.... I've got some other storage ideas up my sleeve and I want to decorate the wall behind the desk too so when that is all done I will of course share it with you all!

Thanks so much for popping by my blog today.

Kaboodle Doodle Challenge # 62 - Cute & Cuddly Animals

Good morning

Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend whatever you were doing and that you enjoyed all the lovely sunshine that we had!  We had friends over to stay this weekend and had a lovely time.

Well its Monday again and its Kaboodle Doodle challenge time!  I've got to confess that I've only JUST finished my project for this week........  This week's challenge is cute and cuddly animals and the DT were supplied with images from Digital Delights

and here is my project - I've made a door hanger for a baby's room - hope you like it!

I wanted my image to have a "delicate" feel to it so I coloured the image with shimmer chalks.   I couldn't help but add some sparkle to the eyelashes - although not sure you can see that in the image that clearly!

Anyway hope that some of you might be able to join in our challenge this week.

Back later in the week as there are a few challenges I want to enter....

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge week 56 - Spring Colour Challenge

Hi

Well what about the weather today how fab has it been - so hot - gorgeous!  Anyway here is my little offering for this weeks The Shabby Tea Room challenge.  They have this lovely photo inspiration

And here is my entry

It was an overcast day when I took this photo and even with my new light box thingy I really couldn't get a decent picture (so frustrating!)  I've also used my sewing machine on this card too - am enjoying it - although I must practice more so that i can get "neat" corners - mind you for shabby look "wonky" corners should be OK - LOL!

Less is More - Week 9 Colour challenge - A Touch of Red

Good morning

Well I was awake early this morning and thought I would waste no time in getting my card posted up to enter this week's  Less is More colour challenge - a touch of red.  As always Chrissie and Mandi have provided some wonderful inspiration and there are so very many gorgeous entries already....  Here is mine

Recipe:
Card blank: Craftwork Cards
Stamps: Swirls v.2 Autumn Leaves by Rhonna Farrer
Stamps: Perfume bottle and lipstick by Kanban
Ink: Versafine Onxy Black
Promarkers
Crystals and ribbon from stash
Oval cut on my Cricut

I just love, love, love the vintage look of the perfume bottle and the lipstick, and it was seeing the lipstick that inspired me to use it because I knew I could colour it red!  I then just highlighted the ribbons on the bottles in red to match the red ribbon on the card - and I just had to add those lovely red crystals for a bit of sparkle!

TBH I wasn't sure if the placement of the bottles and lipstick on the oval were right?  Should I have shaded under them to "place" them on the oval or do you think when you first saw them that they are floating?  I decided to leave them as they were(!) but happy to hear what you think!!

The DT were given some images from this week's sponsor: Whoopsi Daisy:-

As this is a girly challenge thought I would use a fave colour: Pink!  and here is my card and I hope it gives you some inspiration!  I think she is so cute and it looks like she is sitting on that flower!

BP's are from Doodlebug Paper Potpurri in Bubblegum
Card blank and card candy from Craftwork Cards
Die cut: Frilly Square #1 by Go Kreate

I coloured my image with some shimmer chalks for a more delicate look.  The flowers and ribbons are from my stash.
