Save the Children

Jacqui over at Simply Create has set a challenge and asked that we make some cards that she can sell for Save the Children. All the details can be found here. I found out about this through a lovely lady's blog that I visit every day called Kath. She reminded us the other day to make some - I felt so bad that I hadn't yet got round to making any (as you do) and set about making some. So as promised Kath here are a couple of cards that I've made for a really good cause! here is a link to Kath's blog if you've not seen it before.

If anyone reading my blog has a spare half hour to make some cards for Jacqui I'm sure she (and Kath!!) would really appreciate them!

WOYWW

Well bit of a mess this week! I'm in the middle of making some cards for Jacqui at Simple Create for Save the Children. My post above has all the details if you fancy making some cards for a good cause!

My little girly has taken up residence beside me today (perhaps under my desk is a little too hot in this heat as its also right next to the computer!)

Happy crafting.....

Tonic butterfly punch, paula pascual stamps

I've been playing with that wonderful butterfly punch again and came up with this - very "simples" but I love it!

The sentiment has been stamped using one of my new Paula Pascual stamp sets. I need to buy some different inks (ones that Paula recommends) as the inks that I'm using (VersaColour), whilst I love them, they are not coming up "crisp and clear" enough as the ink is not covering the stamp that well - however much I'm tapping it on and however much pressure I put on when pressing it onto the card. I was too impatient to wait until I'd been to my local craft shop to get the different inks and therefore just used what I had!! So watch this space.

I've tried it with the same ink type but a much "stronger" colour and it has come out much better:-

The bird cage and butterfly stamps on the right are from Craftwork Cards stamp set.

I'm reluctant to use my Stazon at the moment until I've bought some of the inks that Paula recommends for her stamp sets (which are just fab BTW - sorry I've not done them much justice!)

As you can guess I'm not an expert with inks at all - I'm only now just getting into stamping so have got a lot to learn (and I need to buy lots of different inks too!), but for as long as I've been crafting, and because I don't stamp that much, inks have always caused me confusion as to what is the best type for what (apart from I do know that Stazon works great on acetate!) LOL

Daring Cardmakers Challenge: Ice & Snow

I'm so excited, I've just found out that I'm one of the lucky winners of last week's challenge over at Daring Cardmakers how cool is that......

Talking of cool this week's challenge has the theme Ice & Snow so here is my entry for this weeks challenge and with all this hot weather its quite nice to think of Ice and Snow!!!!!!!!!!!! I've stamped the image in a lovely "cool and icy" looking ink called Mountain Lake (VersaColour)and highlighted most of the image with my Glamour Dust (Crystal) so it looks like twinkling bits of snow!

Here is the close up of detail of my card

and the full card - sorry the image is dark (and I had my flash on!!! starting my photo course on Saturday..... and not a moment to soon)

Don't know about you but I just LOVE this stamp which is by Papermaina. I saw it last year but couldn't get it, but was lucky enough to get it this year when they brought it out again (I think due to popular demand). I know this is going to be heavily used on my Xmas cards this year...

50th Album - another 2 pages

So I'm still busy working on my sister-in-law's 50th birthday album. Yesterday on WOYWW I posted a photo of some lovely papers I was going to use for a layout and here is the layout now complete! The papers were so versatile that I could have done lots of different layouts but I'm pleased with what I've done!!!

Here is another layout I've done, I didn't really appreciate on the night of the party, just how gorgeous the cake was - these photos show just how stunning it was but because I've photographed the whole layout you can't really appreciate it in this picture.

WOYWW

Thought I would join in the fun at WOYWW this week and so here it is - I'm in the middle of doing a scrapbook album for my sis-in-law and my "layout in waiting" is what is on my desk today!

These fabulous papers came in a kit that I got recently from a craft club that I go to and are from Total Papercrafts. The trouble is they are double sided and I really don't want to cut into them! - but I'm gonna have to cos I want to get on with this album. Watch this space in next couple of days to see how I get on.

Now I think the WOYWW should be retitled WUYWW ie "What's UNDER your workdesk Wednesday" as you can see here is my regular visitor under my desk - sometimes I have to squeeze out as I don't want to move my chair for fear of catching her ear under the wheel!!! - Bless her - she likes to be close to me!!
Don't you just lov 'em.

...................What's that I hear downstairs the National Anthem - the England game is about to start and I'm gonna have to watch it (even though I'm not that into football) fingers crossed the boys get us through!

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Here is my entry into this week's challenge over at Daring Cardmakers.

They have sponsors this week so there are prizes to be won! The sponsors are:-
Nikki Savils and Sarah's Cards. So to be in with a chance of winning, and to see all the rules click on the link above for the Daring Cardmakers.

I've used the new Blossoms paper collection from Craftwork Cards and the owl and sentiment are also from CC.

Oooh did you notice - not a bit of PINK in sight!!!

Craftwork Cards Sketch 2 challenge - Blossom

Craftwork cards have got another challenge this week. Here is my entry into the challenge. I've decoupaged some of the flowers and leaves and highlighted some of the flowers on the background with stickles glitter glue - but I don't think you can see it in the photo.

I'm trying very hard not to use pink because I've used a lot of it lately, and the new blossoms papers not only have pink but also some lovely other colours too so watch this space!

Wishing you a lovely weekend.

More Anglomania

I've just entered this card in to the Craftwork Cards Sketch Challenge 1 - Anglomania here. I really do love this paper collection!

Anglomania!

Good morning all, here are some cards I've made using the new Anglomania collection from Craftwork Cards - I confess when I first saw the collection on line I wasn't sure if I liked it - but the more I saw the more I liked it and so I placed an order.... and now actually having the paper set and die cuts I'm really lovin' em! And obviously it is very current for World Cup time! I also think in the future once the World Cup has been and gone, this collection will be great for any footie fan and so great for men's cards - and we all know how hard it is to make cards for men - LOL. Although you will see the first card is for a girl! and I think quite cool! The other two I've customised to make them for father's day too.

70th birthday card - 2nd posting today

A friend has asked me to make a special card for her mum's 70th birthday coming up in July. The friend liked a previous design I had done for some other special birthday cards I made earlier in the year and here it is...

Papers are from Pink Petticoat, butterfly punch Tonic, flowers and swirls cut using my cricut machine, cardstock and scallop squares from Craftwork Cards.

My Father's day card

For my father's day card this year, I decided to make it a bit more personal by incorporating a photo which is of me, my dad and my sister. If my memory serves me correctly the photo was taken on father's day a few years ago in my dad's conservatory - so very apt!

The papers, cardstock, card candy, and the large flower are from Craftwork Cards. The butterfly punch is from Tonic and the small flower with the crystal is from Petaloo. The "DAD" wording has been cut on a Cricut George cartridge.

I meant to post this photo before my weekend jaunt its just a few Father's day cards I've made recently to go into my friends shop....
